The QNix 1500 comprises four gauges for the price usually paid for one. Using its unique design, the QNix 1500 will non-destructively measure coating thickness over ferrous and non-ferrous substrates with its two integrated probes. It also automatically converts readings from mils to microns with its expanded range of 0.00 - 200 mils or 0.0 - 5000 microns.

Benefits

  • Measures over Ferrous and Non-Ferrous substrates
  • Measuring range 0-200 mils convertible to microns
  • Memory Available
  • No Calibration
  • Equipped with a non-wearing ruby probe for long life and precision
  • No cable or plugs are required

Memory Option

  • Up to 3900 readings can be stored in as many as 999 different blocks or groups
  • Instant averages, standard deviation and high/low readings are displayed on the gauge and measurements can later be downloaded to the QuaNix Software

QNix Right-Angle Probes

The QNix Right-Angle Probes, for use with the QNix 7500, have been designed to measure in hard-to-reach areas that other standard probes are unable to fit into.  For example, the QNix Right-Angle Probes will measure coatings over the inner diameter of a pipe, etc.  Two options are available and include a Rigid Right-Angle Probe as well as a Flexible Right-Angle Probe.  The sensor is attached to the end of a tube.   This tube has a diameter of .31".  The Flexible Right-Angle Probe has a two axial suspension for the probe making the handling very easy. This suspension automatically places the sensor vertically on the measuring surface.

Dimensions: 5.75"H x 3.16"W x 1.58"D (145mmH x 80mmW x 40mmD max.)
Weight: 5 1/4 oz. (150 grams)

The TOUCHSTONE 2 is suitable for use only on coatings applied to a ferrous substrate and uses the magnetic properties of the substrate material to determine the coating thickness i.e. the distance the sensor face is held off the steel by the coating.

KEYPAD CONTROLS
ON
Powers up the gauge and initiates a brief test sequence displaying all screen characters

MM / IN
Toggles between metric and imperial units of measurement. When imperial (English) units are selected a dash-appears to the left of the digits displayed

SET UP
This function calibrates the sensor / gauge combination. It should only be performed when a replacement sensor is connected to the gauge. To access this function hold down the Set Up key and press ON. The sensor must be in contact with the 5mm steel block supplied. The gauge display will show 0.00 for approximately 5 seconds. The last digit will increment to a value less than 0.10 and then display 0.00. Set up is now complete. Follow the operations outlined below for zero and cal Range

ZERO    Performs local Zero to compensate for permeability changes. Zero may also be used when measuring on substrates of different thickness. Place the sensor on an un-coated area of steel.  Wait for the display to settle to its lowest value and press Zero.

CAL RANGE   Used to calibrate the working range of the gauge using the shim provided. Place the 5mm shim on an un-coated area of steel, (having first performed the zero operation above). Place the sensor on the Aluminum shim Press Cal Range; this will correct any inaccuracy due to change in substrate material or thickness.
